This utilitarian train station serves intercity and commuters in West Island Montreal and Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL).
Good to know …
Pros
- Convenient way to fly out of YUL from eastern Ontario, Ottawa or western Quebec
- Shuttle bus “Air Connect” runs every 45/60 minutes and is free for VIA Rail passengers
Cons
- Commuter station of the same name located nearby but not directly integrated
- Lack of direct rapid transit connection to the airport (Montreal’s REM will not extend beyond the airport to Dorval Station; it should)
- Given the proximity of 3 transport hubs (EXO commuter rail, VIA Rail, and Terminus Dorval for STM buses) a proper intermodal hub should be constructed to allow for seamless transfers between all modes
Notes
- While this page describes VIA Rail and Montreal’s EXO commuter rail as being one station, in reality they are separate stations with completely separate platforms and tracks. Same name, but separated by a short walk.
- You cannot book VIA Rail to travel from Montreal Central to Dorval. With EXO you can.
