Exo is the public transport system serving Montréal with bus and commuter rail services throughout the Greater Montréal, Laval, North Shore, South Shore and entirety of the Hochelaga Archipelago.
Tickets
Opus is the automated fare collection system.
Tickets can be purchased at the Metropolitan Ticket Offices or via the Chonro app.
For visitors travelling with VIA Rail, Exo tickets can be purchased alongside your VIA Rail fare.
Fares
Exo uses a zone based tariff system. Broken down there are:
- Zone A: Montréal Island
- Zone B: Laval and Longueuil
- Zone C: North Short and South Shore
- Zone D: Hudson, Mont-Saint-Hilaire
For visitors and tourists, the Unlimited Weekend pass allows for unlimited travel across all zones (A,B,C,D) on STM bus, Metro, EXO train, and REM train. As well as the 747 YUL Airport bus. All for $17. A prefect way to explore Greater Montréal.
Services
Exo runs the following trains on the routes below. Only Vaudreuil/Hudson and Saint-Jérôme lines operate off peak and over weekends. The lines are:

- 15 Mascouche

Exo’s baggage policy is that passengers are allowed to bring enough luggage that they can carry and manage without assistance.

- Limited frequency means most routes operate during peak direction only.
- Limited weekend service, only Vaudreuil/Hudson and Saint-Jérôme lines operate during the weekends.
- Car-centric infrastructure.
- Not ideal for spontaneous trips due to lack of frequency.
- Lines do not all terminate at the same hub, some terminate at Central Station while others terminate at Lucien-L’Allier.
Notes
- Exo is a good commuter and regional rail service but the lack of all day and weekend service on most lines makes this service something that visitors should avoid.
