Information page on Kitchener-Waterloo’s commuter and intercity train station serving GO Transit and VIA Rail.

Information page about Kitchener-Waterloo’s main intercity train station with bus service. VIA Rail‘s Corridor and GO Transit serve this station.

Pros

  1. Walking distance to downtown Kitchener
  2. Many food options (cafés, bars, restaurants) located nearby
  3. Newly introduced weekend service on GO’s Kitchener Line is a welcome addition

Cons

  1. Not a proper central transport hub; although the region has plans to build a new intermodal hub that connects to the regions light rail system: ION
  2. Station building is only open to the public 30 minutes before and after VIA Rail train departures
  3. Personal safety issues (remain vigilate when waiting)
  4. Only one VIA Rail trip per day on the Sarina-London-Toronto route

Notes

Notes
  • With the highly anticipated Kitchener Central Transit Hub awaiting construction approval, the current station sees minimal upgrades resulting in a poor user experience.
  • The current station building is owned by VIA Rail.
