How To Get From Portland International Airport To Downtown

Option 1: TriMet Max Red Line Train

  • Travel time: 2 hours
  • For those on a budget, consider riding TriMet’s Red Line to downtown. Head to the south end of the terminal building at the baggage claim level. Running every 15 minutes, this light rail line travels right into the heart of downtown Portland.
  • Consider purchasingHop Fastpass, Portland’s integrated fare card.

Option 2: Shuttle Bus

Option 3: Taxi / Rideshare

  • Travel time: 20-30 minutes
  • Undoubtedly, the most expensive option from our list but the most private. In addition to taxis, Uber and Lyft offer private rideshare services from the airport. Travel time is approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Expect to pay at least $30-50 for a ride.

Option 4: Bicycle

  • Travel time: 1 hour
  • Yes. Seriously. You can bike from PDX to downtown. How many airports allow bicycle parking? Very few. Travel distance is about 9 miles making for a roughly 1 hour ride. Bike racks are located near the TriMet Max platform
  • Note: Portland Airport at the moment only allows for personal bicycle parking. There is no bikeshare available.
