Discover all the ways to travel from Abbotsford Airport (YXX) to downtown Vancouver broken down by time, adventure, cost & budget.

YXX to downtown Vancouver

  • Given the distance from Abbotsford International Airport to downtown Vancouver, there is no direct transportation option. Driving is the most accessible given the proximity of Highway 1 (Trans Canada Highway). That said, adventurous travellers have several options ranging from shuttle to transit buses to reach Metro (SkyTrain) stations. Notwithstanding, keep in mind there is no public transit (BC Transit) directly from the YXX.

Option 1: Taxi / BC Transit Route 66 Bus / SkyTrain

  • Travel time: ~2 hours
  • Unfortunately, there is no public transit bus serving Abbotsford Airport. Rather, there is Central Fraser Valley Transit route 21 Fraser Highway but this only services the aerospace campus not the terminal itself, and even then only at peak times; so not useful to passengers. Then take a taxi from YXX terminal to Highstreet Mall (1 hour walk or 8 minute tax ride) and board BC Transit route 66 Fraser Valley Express. Moreover, disembark at Lougheed Town Centre Station and board the SkyTrain’s Expo or Millennium Line and continue to downtown Vancouver.
  • Fare for the bus is $2.25. Fare for the SkyTrain is $4.85.

Option 2: Shuttle Bus

  • Travel time: 1.5 hours
  • Several companies operate pre-arranged shuttles from Abbotsford Airport to downtown Vancouver. Furthermore, these shuttles run on demand.
  • More expensive but shuttle buses provide peace of mind. Furthermore, they are ideal for groups travelling with luggage.

Option 3: Intercity Bus / Metro

  • Travel time: 2 hours
  • Another option are the intercity buses operating on set schedules. In addition, these buses conveniently pick up and drop off at YXX.
  • Fares for the bus start at $46.82. Fare for the SkyTrain is $10.70.
  • Moreover, intercity buses are for the budget minded. Nevertheless, keep in mind luggage restrictions.

Option 4: Taxi / Rideshare

  • Travel time: 2 hours
  • Undoubtedly, the most expensive option from our list but the most private. In addition to taxis, Uber offers private rideshare services from the airport. Travel time is approximately 60-90 minutes depending on traffic. Expect to pay about $150-200 for a ride.
