Information page on this remote stop for the Canadian transcontinental train.

Known as the “Hub of the North”, Sioux Lookout is a major logistics point for rail and air servicing northwestern Ontario. While technically not a station, this location is a sign post (a request stop) as the original station building is now owned by the municipality. This station on the Canadian serves as a crew change and refueling stop. Nearby is the Canadian National Railways freight yard.

Pros

  1. This Rustic, remote stop, offers a chance for passengers to step offboard and stretch their legs.

Cons

  1. The original station building itself is closed. Instead VIA Rail operates out of an adjacent heated shack

Notes

Notes
  • The Canadian always stops here to refuel and change crews. Step outside the train and go for a short walk and enjoy this village in the middle of the boreal forest.
  • Economy passengers should take this stop as a chance to grab some warm food from a nearby restaurant.
